Neosho, Mo. —
The Neosho High School Wildcat Band closed its 2010 competition schedule with a fourth place finish in finals competition at the Carthage Maple Leaf Marching Band Festival on Saturday.
Neosho, performing its 2010 marching band show, “Beyond Perimeters” for the final time, placed behind Willard High School in first place, Lebanon High School in second place and Carl Junction High School in third place.
Mt. Vernon and Joplin placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
In preliminary competition, the Neosho Wildcat Band’s percussion section won the Best Percussion caption in Class C, which featured Willard and Lebanon.
In finals, the Wildcat Band’s color guard won the Best Auxiliary caption, beating out the other seven bands in finals.
“I was very proud of the percussion and color guard for earning those caption awards,” said Elizabeth Rogers, director of instrumental music at NHS. “Those students worked very hard this year, and all that hard work paid off in their performance at Maple Leaf. I was proud of the entire band.”
Rogers is assisted by Ryan Lovell, associate band director, and assistant directors Darren Cordray and Ben Gervais. Eric Daughtery serves as the color guard assistant.
