A few days ago, I was in line at Price Cutter, on Neosho Boulevard, waiting to checkout with my groceries - when an event happened that brightened by day. Not only brightened my day, but brightened my belief in people. You see, as a Cop, I don't get t see humanity at its best and there is no doubt this has skewed my vision of the World - to a point.
As I prepared to place my food on the conveyor belt, I saw a frail elderly woman preparing to pay for her groceries. She looked like any elderly woman, like your Grandmother, or the widow next door. Simple in dress, obviously not well off.
As it came time to pay the $50.00 bill for this woman's groceries and she was counting out her money, something wonderful happened!!!! A woman in between us in line, handed the clerk a $50 bill and said she was paying for the woman's groceries. Obviously stunned, the woman told the benevolent stranger she did not have to do this. The benevolent stranger insisted. She relayed to the elderly woman what a great night she had at a local Casino and she said, "I've been blessed, I have more money than I need this month!"
Tears came to the eyes of the elderly woman as she accepted this gracious gift from a person she had never met. After the woman walked out with her groceries, a man approached the benevolent stranger and said how much this had meant to the old woman. He said he was her neighbor and he took her to the store every week, since her husband had passed away a few years ago and she was unable to get around. The neighbor said the woman had been worried about paying her electric bill this month and this was a gift from God.
What have you done today to change the life of someone else in a positive manner???? Below, I have included a video clip from the Movie, "Pay it Forward", if you have not seen it - you need to. Pay it forward is a concept we all should do to make the world a better place.............................If we can't agree - let's at least be Civil.......................
I have heard of wonderful stories like this one, thanks for sharing!! What a wonderful thing she did for that lady!!
